I LOVE Sushi Geido.
The decor is odd and great - handpainted scrawl that's a cross between children's handpaintings and Japanese graffiti weirdness.
The service is always pleasant with lots of welcomes and hellos when i walk in the door.
... And the Susi is extremely good. Very fresh, big portions, and the overall menu is excellent too.
I say 5 stars for Sushi Geido *****

I LOVE THIS PLACE
but its gotten pretty popular, such that on a weekend there is a line out the door, and also i rarely sit down for too long because mostly they play loud metal or punk, which is great music, but not so easy to have a conversation over/under

I live down the street from here and walk by it daily on my way to and from the Q train. In the evenings when I get offwork and am too tired to make something for myself, I walk by this place... and just keep walking.
I have been there a few times - a few times more than I'd like to say based on the above noted predicament - and every time the sushi tastes just mediocre. The fish isn't very fresh, ever. The servings are small, and the one time that I decided to sit down and eat instead of taking it with me, the service was horrible - slow, awkward, alienating.
I do like that they have a little book at each table describing all the different sushi and how it's prepared, but come on!
MUCH better is up Flatbush a few blocks @ 7th Ave - Sushi Geido. They don't deliver, but they do deliver great sushi (that was sort of a little joke... anyway). They have a great atmosphere with weird stuff in Japanese painted on the walls. It's affordable. The service is always excellent (tho sometimes there's a waiting line).
and if you want good sushi delivered to your house - call Sushi Tatsu 718-638-7900, also on Flatbush. Stuff is DOPE!!!
