We went there again after hearing it had somewhat reclaimed it's earlier status as a good place. The entree and main courses where really fabulous, we had some pickeled peppers and I had the cod. The desserts were a bit of a dissapointment.  Over all it was fairly good I would have labelled this as love it if it hadn't been for that wierdo manager that was just too much. We came there and the place was empty and it took him 10 minutes to decide weather or not he had a table for us ... common it's not like there was anyone there and there aren't that many tables there so if he though he was fully booked is shouldn't have been a mystery to him. He also had a really uncomfortable presence! Next time I try to go I may turn around if he's there.

I used to go there for brunch occasionally, until I got sick of being treated like crap.  Why do you have an a la carte section on your brunch menu if you won't let anyone order from it?

Plus, all of the waitstaff are clearly terrified of the owner or manager, which makes me a little uncomfortable.

Oh, Rosewater--how I used to love thee.  I have had dinner at Rosewater at least twenty times in the past five years.  The atmosphere is adorable--small, sweet, candle-lit dining room with nice accents and an intimate vibe.  The service used to be fine to great.  The food used to be yummy to mind-blowingly wonderful.  I love that they use local and organic ingredients, have an interesting and affordable wine list, and always offer vegetarian options.  But over the past year, I have had so many disappointing experiences there--lousy entrees, inexcusably bad service, inconsistent food quality--that I'm afraid I am finally ready to give up on them.  I just can't trust them anymore, and it makes me so sad.

I have been there for brunch and I loved it... a bit on the pricy side but I thought it was really good. I hade a pulled pork sandwich which I though was so delicious. This was a while back so I am sad to hear that is seems to have gone down hill from when I went there. I am going to put love it until I try it again.

Haven't been in a while. I thought the mediterranean-tinged recipes were overwrought and mediocre, and Jahola got food poisoning there once, so that was it.

I'm giving Rose Water a "Like It" in memory of how good it used to be. My girlfriend and I were regulars for two and a half years (more for her) and went there 6-8 times per year. The manager, John, always recognized us and treated us well. The food, while never consistently spectacular, was always good, always fresh and inventive, always highlighted interesting local, seasonal ingredients, and was always good - often very good. The wine list was chosen with care and offered a very reasonable range of prices. The wines are usually off-beat and we were turned on to some wines we had never heard of before. The ambiance is lovely. So what happened? Who knows... The food now ranges from bland and ill-conceived to good, but not great. The service, formerly a hallmark, was offensively poor on our last visit (John was not there). The service has steadily declined for at least a year. Even the new awning sucks and just reinforces the unfortunate reality that this former haven of simple, elegant, ethical cuisine is now just another NYC restaurant. I'm basically in the never again camp, but I wish that somehow, someway they could recapture the old magic and find a way to let a broken heart know.
