I love the place.  But one thing that must be had when going there: B-A-C-O-N!

The serve these single strips of bacon grilled.  I tried to get them to sell me some of the bacon or at least give me the name of their supplier-no go.

One strip is all you need. Savor it.

Enough has been said about the steak, I won't repeat it.  But the bacon, get yourself a strip.

Peter Luger is a steak experience that should not be missed. If you are a trasplant from somewhere else save this for when mom and dad visit. The wait staff is gruff, experienced and it is often best to just say we are here for steak and let them handle the order. The creamed spinach is a must as are the homefries.  The tomatoes, onions and Peter Luger sauce starts the meal.  If you can do dessert whatever you do order ask them to bring you a bowl of whipped cream on the side and they will.

I've only had the burger here, not the signature porterhouse. Burger was meh. Enormous and dry steak fries. Also the atmosphere is very, um, unique--bright lighting, lots of dark wood, fratty--but I guess a fun "experience." or something. I would like to try the steak, but honestly I probably won't because I value a pleasant eating experience and also Prune, in the East Village, makes a hell of a ribeye with a bunch of herby butter on top! TDF.
