The Park Slope is the only one worth going to. The food is spot-on. Try the fried candy bars, although my favorite is the treacle pudding.

This is applies only to the Park Slope outpost.  Service is HORRENDOUS.  I've eaten there four on separate occasions.  The food-when it finally arrives, it is what is, fried.  And that's not bad, but it's not good enough to make for the awful service.

When I feel the need for fish and chips I venture over to the Atlantic Avenue location where the service is much better.

I agree that since the split eating here is less appealing. I usually ate with people who were willing to share and we did have some things off the indian menu to mix it up. I am not a fried fish fan but the mac and cheese is wonderfull as is the beef stew. If you cvan get in then stop by

Im putting "like it" cuz up until the last time I was there I LOVED it. I just love the ambience, they had Monty Python Ale on tap the service was awesome, the food was awesome and the dessert was yummy. The problem is, has anyone been there or passed by RECENTLY? The cut the place in half. The section that had the bar is gone! Now theres a turkish restuarant. I dunno whats happened or why but this place was always crowded on weekends I dunno what they are gonna do now its even smaller. I dont even know if there is still a bar. I am already disappointed and I havent even gone back to see how it is now. Im scared to find out.

This place used to rock. I ate here almost monthly for a few years, but it has been on a steady decline... even with the outlaw of Trans Fats- (their food no longer MAKES me sick) it still makes me sick.
the fish is often cold soggy and/or undercooked and even the balls of fried mac and cheese don't rock hard like they used to. Their deserts have always sucked and well, I am sad to rag on such an inventive place but their service usually sucks too. I am sure there is a better fish and chips place in the slope. Let me know!
Catfish burgers at Bonnies Grill are SOLID!

Oh yum. Eating here often probably isn't a very good idea but for all the complaining your heart will do every time you go, your stomach will thank you. The food gets soggy pretty quickly if you get take out but unwrapping that newspaper and finding a clump of greasy goodness inside is a beautiful thing.

It's the best fish and chips in NYC. But don't go to the Chip Shop on Atlantic: it's terrible and doesn't compare to the Park Slope one.

This is definatelly one of those ok lala places. Nothing fabulous... also I always feel like this is the british version of hardrock cafe. At any rate I will go there again but probably just if someone drags me or something like that. Putting it simply I never crave it.

I haven't been to this place in years because it's just so damn hard to justify a big piece of deep fried fish coupled with a salty heap of deap fried potato.  But man, when that crude combo starts seeming irresistable, this is the place to go.  I lived in London for a while and the only fish-n-chips I had (and I had many) that could compare with the Chip Shop was a fancy restaurant with commensurate prices.  For a down-home type place, the Chip Shop rules at clogging your arteries and building your love-handles in the most delicious of ways.  The curry, as I remember, is good, but not nearly as good (or genuine) as Kinara.

The chips get soggy fast, but the fish is a perfect elementary-school style treat. I also like the curry shop offerings.
