Best sushi on 7th Ave. Actually, the only good sushi on 7th Ave. Not to be compared with Taro, which is truly exceptional. That said, since Taro is way out of the way for most near-the-park Slopers, Yamato is considerably more accessible. It's also far superior in decor. Good Japanese food and, by the standards of the genre, not overpriced.

Yamato is totally solid Japanese, although I would not get the sushi there. However, it's not inexpensive--more like mid-range--so why not just save up for another few days and go to Blue Ribbon instead?...this is the 3rd post in which I've mentioned Blue Ribbon...

One word pretentious! This place is very neat and the estetics seem to matter quite alot so much that the server fixed my napkin while it was on my lap and not while I was at the restroom like most other fancy places. I like the food but I wouldn't say it's as relaxed as I expect of a fancy place like this. It's still the best japanese option on seventh avenue.

This place is fine. Totally solid. Looks good, tastes good. But I've never had anything great there. Why go here when you could go to Taro Sushi? (answer: because it's a nicer place to sit and eat in. but if food is your top priority, walk the extra blocks to eat at Taro.)
