This may not be the most authentic Mexican food around, but it is tasty and quick and inexpensive. On evenings and weekends, the left-hand side becomes a full service restaurant, with more complex offering like enchiladas and fajitas and steak and fish dishes, but fewer burrito and taco options. I prefer the food on the taqueria side, where you wait in line to order tacos and burritos at the counter. There are a few self-serve tables in the back, and you can buy beer. My personal favorite is the Venice burrito: spicy marinated chicken, pico de gallo, beans, rice and sour cream or yogurt. They also deliver, but I usually just stop by on my way home.

Big, tasty burritos. Good cheese quesadillas. Not-worth-it margaritas. A great take-out option, but it's better to just show up and order your food (wait: 3 to 15 minutes) than to call ahead and then pick it up (wait: 25 minutes to eternity). Classic rock on the radio (and classic rock stickers on the walls).

The only worthwhile place in the Slope to bring guests for an inexpensive meal. Huge California-style burritos, and the rottiserie chicken is also delicious. Once in a while they have carnitas, so it's worth asking. The guac and the pico both have cilantro in them, so if you're not a fan make sure to avoid those--they're happy to leave them out.

I don't know how the burrito guys can always look like they're in such a rush and yet be so inefficient.  Sometimes it just takes bloody forever.  Still, they make a damn good burrito.  I usually get the Baja, the smaller version of the Outrageous California.  It's still enough to let me know I'm getting fatter, just not WAY fatter.  Plus I save a buck or two.  The marinated mushrooms and roasted corn are great fillers if you don't go for meat.  The yogurt is a healthy and satisfying alternative to the sour cream.  Funky place, good food, cheap... I could ask for more, but this is aleady enough to make me a regular.

Walk in to the to-go side and instantly you are transported to Mission district in SF.  If you eat in tho, you can't help but wonder what the artists were on when you contemplate the depth behind the traditional mural-ed walls infused with capitalism. All in all, quite tasty and well worth the prices.

The service here was great and the food was pretty good but I think I'll stick with Maria's just because it's closer to me.

I thought it was a little weird that my vegetarian taco was so enormous: a corn tortilla piled with what seemed like 16 oz of beans, rice (?!?!), guacamole, YOGURT, cheese and who knows what else. I couldn't even eat it properly because stuff was oozing everywhere. Taste-wise, it was decent, but sort of reminiscent of El Loco Burrito in Williamsburg (unseasoned and bland, not very Mexican). Next time I'll try the meat stuff—seems like it'd be at least a little better than the veg. I think in general, though, Mission-style isn't my preferred style of Mexican food.

I didn't get my traditional margarita (I'm a fiend for margaritas); they were on the pricey side. The fresh-made guac is good, although quite chunky when I went, and the fish taco I had was tasty and a bit spicy. The portions were generous. The most surprising part of La Taquieria for me was the space: I got the impression from the outside that it would be cramped inside, but it wasn't at all.
