I am the chef and owner of Stone Park Cafe. I am writing to comment on "Nomi Malone's" post regarding an incident with a waterbug that she had while dining at my restaurant. This post has shown up on other message boards and has rightfully caused some indignation and disgust. Of course, I would fist like to apologise for any discomfort that was caused on the specified night and make it crystal clear that the incident described would never have been sanctioned or condoned by any manager at the restaurant. I have personally checked with all the managers here and my business partner and no incident of this kind was ever brought to any of our attentions. Had it been brought to our attention, proper action would have been taken and we would have taken any appropriate measure to make sure that our customer's concerns and problems were addressed. Stone Park Cafe takes cleanliness and sanitation issues very seriously and has far above average standards in that regard. What the waiter did under the circumstances is so grotesque and outside the realm of any proper decorum that I can only conclude that it was a gross oversight on the server's part or some kind of wild misunderstanding; it was certainly not a normal response. For that reason this incident should be judged for what it was: An isolated incident due to a renegade waiter's mishandling of an admitedly stressful situation and certainly not an indictment of our restaurant. I further urge the poster to contact me directly so that I can personally assure her that this is not the way we generally do business and address any health and safety concerns she might have.
